WR Sleeper Spotlight - Adonai Mitchell

Did you know the English translation for the Hebrew Adonai is Lord? As in Lord have mercy are we really talking about Adonai Mitchell? Yes we are and this is why he is a true sleeper for 2026

Playing just 3 years in college he started his career at Georgia and after 2 seasons the 6’2” 205 lb receiver transferred to Texas in what would be a 55 catch, 845 yard 11 TD breakout season.  He followed that up with a stellar NFL combine including a shocking 4.34 40 time that made then 20 year old Mitchell a 2nd round pick for the Indianapolis Colts.

Adonai’s rookie season was forgettable catching passes from then fellow rookie Anthony Richardson who was mostly terrible as a passer so hard to judge Mitchell on his first year. Halfway through his 2nd season he was traded to the Jets where he started to show some promise.

While the stats never amounted to much, Mitchell did see over 7 targets a game. Unfortunately QB play with the Jets wasn’t much better than what Adonai saw in Indy which is a big reason why he’s continued to deliver weak stats. This year can be a true 3rd year breakout for AD.

Because he is being paired with veteran Geno Smith who is an old school gun slinger that likes throwing the ball down field.  Even better is his deep ball accuracy, which is well above league average the past few seasons.

On the surface Adonai Mitchell has a lot of competition but a closer look shows he might not be competing for targets as much as many think.  The top target will be Garrett Wilson who is the clear #1 receiver for the Jets. Beyond Wilson, Mitchell is competing with rookie WR Omar Cooper Jr. & TE Kenyon Sadiq.  Both Cooper and Sadiq are going to run mostly shallow routes which leaves Adonai and Wilson on the outside. With Wilson garnering opponent’s top defenders, AD should see plenty of 1:1 coverage downfield.

Reports are that Geno and AD quickly built a rapport in OTAs and that could just be the beginning.  Being drafted as the Wide receiver 63 outside the top 160 players for fantasy, he’s a low risk high upside pick in the last round of drafts.
