There are a lot of rules to live by in the world of fantasy like making sure players on the bye week are out of your starting lineup, monitoring injury status up to game time to ensure all of your starters are going to play, and don't draft a backup QB that has the same bye week as your starting QB. Perhaps none more important that this one, which I have given the acronym SYS...Start Your Studs.
There is a reason you draft a player in the first few rounds. History dictates that player is an NFL stud generating a reliably hefty stat line week in and week out. So when it comes to game time don't be quick to second guess your stud based on the matchup.
The great wideouts may not have a great game against top cornerbacks, but they can still have a play or two that make a difference for your fantasy team. Even against the toughest of competition, a topflight receiver is going to get looks from his quarterback. Feature backs are going to get the ball, regardless of the defensive line in front of him. A pass interference call in the end zone that puts the ball at the one yard line can happen any given week and a team will opt to put the ball into the hands of their best weapon on the field, especially if that weapon is a pro bowl runner. In short, stud players will get their chances.
So before you start to second guess the players in which you chose to build your team around, remember that these guys are studs for a reason. They are must starts every week. Cringe when they take a big hit and sweat when they are game time decisions. But have faith in your key players. It is true that there will be weeks when your studs under-perform. But knowing which week a superstar will let you down is impossible to predict, even against a matchup that is terrible on paper.
It's normal to have week to week jitters over your team but have faith in your lead players. Star players are stars for a reason. They find a way to deliver. Word to the wise...if they are healthy, SYS.
