2026 Dark Horses - Week 9

Quarterbacks

Carson Wentz vs Bills

Wentz started the season for injured Kyler Murray and in his first start ended up as QB12 with 3 passing touchdowns. This week he hosts The Buffalo Bills who have been one of the more favorable defenses for opposing QBs. Before last week’s QB disaster for Baltimore, the Bills were giving up 299 pass yards a game & 15 air touchdowns in 6 games.

Drew Lock vs Cardinals

No Sam Darnold in week 9 means the Seahawks once again turn to Drew Lock. He played in just one full game this year in place of Darnold and that was week 2 coincidentally against the Cardinals. He ended up 19-26 for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns en route to a QB9 finish that week. The Seahawks run game continues to struggle so a repeat performance is a real possibility.

Running Backs

Dylan Sampson at Saints

There is no team more favorable to the running back this year than the New Orleans Saints. Quinshon Judkins is the lead back and a must start.  But the Saints aren’t just RB friendly but also favorable to RB receiving work. Upon his return 2 weeks ago, Sampson has re-assumed the passing down role in this offense and over 10 PPR points in back to back games.

Devin Singletary at Eagles

The Eagles defense has continued a negative trend the past month making the matchup for the Giants a run favorable spot. The Giants are banged up in the backfield with Tyrone Tracy on IR and Cam Skattebo doubtful to play. Since they cut Najee Harris a few weeks ago, Devin Singletary is the only real healthy running back. Opportunity knocks…Singletary could be a hit this week.

Seth McGowan vs Cowboys

This might seem more obvious to the “Jonathan Taylor is getting traded” crowd and JT might be gone after Sunday. But unless JT is active, he’s going to get the lions share of touches. So why is McGowan on the list?  It is the matchup & his efficiency. The Cowboys are bottom 5 worst against opposing running backs this season and gave up 4 RB scores in the past 2 games. McGowan has seen change of pace level work but highly efficient, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. While a bigger back at 6’0” 225, McGowan has yet to log a single carry inside the 5 which is why he is not a lock but more of a dark horse to get his first on Sunday.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

KC Concepcion at Saints

Sanders made a living at Colorado throwing passes within 7 yards of the line of scrimmage.  He’s an efficient & effective passer in the short game. I would expect the Browns gameplan to be a run heavy and high percentage pass game, which bodes well for KCC. Concepcion is a slot receiver that can heat up with volume. He showed that 2 weeks ago with 10 targets, 8 catches, 3 carries & 152 total yards.

Courtland Sutton at Panthers

The Panthers have been one of the better defenses against opposing receivers. Sutton has been barely worth a roster spot. So why doe she land on this list? More of a hunch, Sutton has been a top red zone target, with 25 touchdowns over the past 3 seasons which is one every 2 games on average. This season he has just 1 and that was over a month ago. I have a feeling he is due. Without Jaycee Horn in the secondary, Panthers are vulnerable on the outside.

Ryan Flournoy at Colts

Over the past 2 games, Flournoy has had more snaps than George Pickens. GP is also banged up & questionable to play on Sunday. Over the past month, Flournoy has been very consistent averaging over 11 PPR fantasy points per game. The Colts are reeling as a team with signs pointing towards a tanked season. The Cowboys are in a must win scenario & it will have to be the offense that does it. Flournoy is a modest start but if Pickens sits this week his value skyrockets.

Greg Dulcich vs Lions

No team has been more favorable to the tight end position than the Lions. They have given up 11 tight end touchdowns and 9 different tight ends have had double digit fantasy points over the 9 games played. Dulcich has seen at least 5 targets in 3 straight games. He could be in line for his best stat line of the season and his first touchdown of the year.

Antonio Williams vs Rams

The Commanders lost Terry McLaurin for the year. Now they will also be without Treylon Burks and Dyami Brown. The top receiver is Stefon Diggs and Chig Okonkwo should see a solid target total. But the Rams are solid against the pass so with attention on the top two targets, Jayden Daniels could turn to the rookie for production. Williams could end up with a higher target share simply because of the circumstance.
